Where It All Started—Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales

Growing up in his father’s body shop and car dealership, Jason Dietsch learned the ins and outs of the trade. His entrepreneurial spirit ignited at a young age and he set out with his endeavor, Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales, which has become a market leader and industry innovator as well as the Official Trailer Distributor for both the NMRA and the NMCA.

Dietsch’s father, Tom, was the catalyst for his life of business ownership. “I had five cars that I fixed up and sold before I even had my license,” recalled Dietsch, now 50 years old, who has lived his whole life in Edgerton, Ohio. “I was always a hustler, trying to do what I could to make money.”

When Dietsch started racing, he realized he needed a trailer. At the PRI Show in 2000, he spoke with a representative from United Trailers and got set up as a dealer. In between running his body shop and his racing efforts, Dietsch started selling trailers on the side. “In 2012, I bought a location where a Ford dealership had been,” said the man who wanted to operate his body shop from the property.

Dietsch expanded his trailer business from the new facility. Dietsch smartly realized the motorsports industry needed a full-service supplier, too, and began offering everything from custom builds to trackside support for racers. The concept was a hit and JDTS grew very quickly. So quickly that he was inspired to start a secondary business, Jason Dietsch Custom Coach, which focused on building high-end toter homes, air-ride stacker trailers with liftgates, and more.

“We’ve built so many race trailers over the years and race ourselves, so we know what our customers need and help them avoid making mistakes when they place a custom order or buy off the lot,” noted Dietsch. Keeping current with the latest trends and technology, too, helps him provide his customers with trailers that will keep them rolling for years to come. “Whether it’s a stacker or a liftgate or a gooseneck or bumper pull, we have trailers for every customer.”

A few years later, Dietsch purchased United Trailers and brought it under his umbrella of businesses. Truly offering a one-stop shop from manufacture through maintenance, Dietsch also kept up with his body shop roots as JDTC operates a complete collision center on-site, offering everything from collision repair to general service.

Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales also expanded its original dealership location with three additions and extra acreage for parking and is the largest open and enclosed trailer dealer in Northwest Ohio. In 2022, a second location, Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales Midsouth, opened in Michigan City, Mississippi.

JDTS offers a diverse inventory with more than 400 trailers in stock, including stackers, enclosed trailers, dump trailers, equipment trailers, utility trailers, and even horse trailers. In addition to United, Dietsch’s family-run company also offers trailers from manufacturers such as ATC, Behneke, Darkhorse, Lamar, Legend, Load Trail, Sure-Trac, and Sundowner.

With trades considered and financing available, JDTS’s customers can choose to purchase a pre-built trailer, have an existing trailer customized and outfitted for their needs, or have a fully custom trailer built to their exact specifications.

While Dietsch built a business worth bragging about, his father — now 78 years old — is still going strong with his dealership. Dietsch’s 19-year-old son, Taylor, is also continuing the family legacy as he is both President of United Trailers and owner of his own Outlaw Armory & Ammo business. “My 16-year-old daughter, Jaden, does all of our decals, and my wife, Jennifer, works up front,” Dietsch proudly added.

“More than working together, we love racing together as a family,” affirmed Dietsch. A frequent competitor in multiple classes such as NMCA Holley EFI Factory Super Cars, NMCA MagnaFuel Open Comp, NMRA ARP Open Comp, and more, Dietsch’s kids often get in on the action, too; for Taylor, it’s NMRA Vengeance Clutch Coyote Stock and NMRA/NMCA Open Comp while Jaden is trying her hand in NMRA Whatever It Takes Transmission Parts Street Bandit 10.10. “I like the family atmosphere of the NMRA and NMCA events, and I like that we can give back to the racers through our business while supporting the next generation of drivers.”
